Simi Valley is a city located in the southeast region of Ventura County, California. It is considered part of the Greater Los Angeles Area even though it is located in Ventura County. The city is adjacent to Thousand Oaks and Moorpark as well as unincorporated areas of the San Fernando Valley including Chatsworth and Northridge. Simi Valley is roughly 30 miles from Downtown Los Angeles and 3 miles from Chatsworth. The City was incorporated in 1969 under the general laws of the State of California. Simi Valley is mostly a residential area feeding the larger cities located in Ventura County to the west and Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley to the east.
A recent study completed by the University of Vermont ranked Simi Valley as the 5th happiest city in the United States, and in 2013 the FBI ranked Simi Valley as the 7th safest city in America, 1997 was the last time the city topped the list. As Simi Valley is close to Hollywood and the TV and film studios located in Los Angeles it has been a popular location for filming. Simi Valley has been the site of numerous films and television shows, most notably for the hit series M*A*S*H. |
